About Us

The congregation at the Sierra Madre Church of Christ is a Christ-centered, loving family. Our togetherness and love for each other is evident in all that we do, whether it be in worship or outside of worship. We are, by no means perfect, but we strive to serve God to the best of our abilities.

We come from diverse backgrounds. There are older people, younger people, and different ethnicities. We have members who are fluent in Mandarin, Spanish and French.

Our congregation draws members from all over the San Gabriel Valley including cities such as Pasadena, Altadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Arcadia. Some of our members even come from as far as Malibu and Orange County to worship God and enjoy fellowship together.

Our members are blessed with many different God given talents. We seek to serve God and others in our community with those talents.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. It is our effort to follow its teachings and apply them in our lives.

We believe Jesus to be everything the Bible teaches Him to be: the Son of God and our hope for salvation. We take our direction from Christ and we direct our lives toward Him.

We endeavor to build an atmosphere of peace for His glory and our salvation. We strive for love and unity, and it is our sincere hope that this will be our witness to the world that we are His. We have no allegiance to any religious body except that of Christ’s. We are not governed by any outside organization. Following Biblical example, we are responsible for our own worship and work, striving for the unity of believers and looking to Biblical examples for our church practices. Jesus made the startling claim that, “The Son of Man came, not to be served, but to serve…” We seek to serve others as Christ serves us. It is our sincere hope that you will find our congregation a friendly place where you can feel at home. May you be richly blessed. Why do we gather? We have a dream, based on John 17:19-23, that God’s people might be one and thus be God’s witness to the world. We come together seeking to be Christians only, united under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, built upon the foundation of God’s Word, living in the fullness of His love, and walking in the power of His Spirit. Our dream is focused on the call for all to be New Testament Christians- to be Christian in the sense that it meant to be Christian when the Church was first begun. By shedding ourselves of our differences and uniting in the simplicity of the early church, we believe that God’s people can be unified. Hence, we seek to worship God in the same manner as the early church, teaching as they taught and being what they were- followers of Christ committed to bringing His truth to the world.
